Team handball is one of the most exciting sports you probably have never heard of. It used to say that right on the USA homepage haha. If your interested in checking out the webpage click this link: http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Team-Handball.aspx During this unit, the students worked hard acquiring the skills necessary to participate in the game through practice and repetition during some fun activities. The rules of the game can be seen on our I Can statement that is posted below. The students also need to learn the rules of the crease. The crease can be seen on the assessment below. They worked hard passing the ball and moving it up and down the court in order to earn points. After learning sport, we played some small sided games as well as some 6 on 6. Once we had the game down pat we moved into a round robin tournament where each team got to face each other! So much fun! To play this game at home you can use any kind of ball. Ball doesn't bounce you say? Take out the dribbling rule. Many elementary schools don't even use the dribbling requirement. They only play with 3 steps and 3 seconds. Accessing resources outside of the gymnasium in order to participate in the sport is Standard 3: Resource Management. Below is one of our summative assessments we took after watching this video.
